Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Purpose of the role is to perform and complete all task assignment safety, using correct method and safety precautions to the required quality standard, completing task on time effectively using the resources, given for each task. Execute all planned and unplanned tasks and release the equipment safely to the mining operation team

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade one/ Level three or its equivalent in welding.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years’ working experience or above in Mining industry as welding supervisor
  • Must possess Valid Tanzania Driving license

 

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support our workforce to work safely by identifying and managing workplace hazards associated with the work being performed.
  • Provide expert advice to maintenance and trades personnel engaged in the maintenance of the      mining fleets and welding activities as directed by the SNR Supervisor
  • Develop scope of work for major works associated with the welding works
  • To ensure work is performed to the acceptable safety quality standards and that best fitment and welding practices are adhered and imparted to the work force
  • To monitor maintenance skill levels providing necessary on the job training whenever necessary
  • To maintain a register of training for maintainers and ensure the workforce can work without supervision
  • To continually check all work in progress by monitoring quality. ensure works is performed to the acceptable safety quality

  • Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Should be able to develop effective working relationship across all levels of organisation

  • Should be ready to work under pressure with tight deadlines and minimal supervision
