We are a law firm registered in Tanzania and operating in Dar es Salaam. We are looking for an Advocate to join as a Senior Associate in our growing legal team. He/she will be expected to undertake the following duties:
1. Represent the Firm’s clients in court and arbitral litigation proceedings
2. Provide legal advice to the clients of the Firm across all relevant sectors
3. Provide company secretarial services to the clients of the Firm
4. Assist the clients of the Firm on their compliance requirements i.e. filing and obtaining the relevant permits and licences
5. Identify and undertake business development initiatives to market the business of the Firm
6. Travel outside of Dar es Salaam to attend to clients’ needs in courts, tribunals or Government authorities situated outside of Dar es Salaam
7. Organize and provide webinars and undertake legal topics presentations on behalf of the Firm
Experience:
The Senior Associate should have the following qualifications, experience and key attributes:
1. Degree in law (LL.B) and must have successfully completed Law School.
2. Must have between 3 to 4 years’ experience in legal practice from a busy law firm.
3. Must be experienced in court, tribunal and arbitral proceedings and the applicable procedural laws and requirements. Must have experience in drafting pleadings and the relevant court and arbitral submissions
4. Must be conversant with the laws of Tanzania, particularly companies act, land law, oil and gas, mining (including local content) and all procedural laws applicable in courts.
5. Must have good experience in company secretarial, BRELA filings, mergers & acquisitions and structural advice.
6. Must have good drafting skills including drafting of legal due diligence reports, memorandum of advice and legal opinions, acquisition documents and other related contracts.
7. Must have ability to handle clients including attending meetings, providing live legal advice and taking the matter through to completion.
8. Must be driven, determined to get involved in business development initiatives and be able to identify opportunities.
9. Must be prompt to respond to emails, calls and provide updates in real time.

Strong command of written and spoken English & Kiswahili
