Traidcraft Exchange is an international development charity which uses the power of trade to bring about lasting solutions to poverty. It runs development programmes in South Asia and Africa, works directly with businesses to improve their supply chains and does advocacy and campaigning in the UK to promote justice and fairness in international trade.

The purpose of the role is to support the implementation of Traidcraft Exchange -FCDO Funded project titled ‘People, Prosperity and Planet Project’ in Kisarawe and Rufiji district of Tanzania. As a project manager the incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of all project activity planning, implementation, M&E, communication, reporting and related budget expenditures, as well as project staff supervision.

People, Prosperity, Planet Project is a three-year (April 2022- March 2025) project to be implemented by Traidcraft Exchange (TX) in partnership with Tanzania Gender and Sustainable Energy Network (TANGSEN) in Kisarawe and Rufiji district of Tanzania. The project aims to improve Natural Resource Management (NRM) and livelihoods for 2200 ((1300 women: 800 men; 100 people with disabilities) vulnerable people through climate resilient practices & market led approaches along 4 value chain (VC’s)’. The four selected value chains include honey, fruit trees, poultry & vegetables.

Role:

People, Prosperity, and Planet Project (full-time three-year fixed term contract)

Location: Rufiji, Tanzania

Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to provide overall management and coordination of all project activity planning, implementation, value chains development, monitoring and evaluation, communication, reporting and related budget expenditures, as well as project staff supervision of Traidcraft Exchange -FCDO Funded project titled ‘People, Prosperity and Planet Project’ in Kisarawe and Rufiji districts of Tanzania.

Accountabilities:

This position will

· Report to Head of Programmes, Africa.

· Provide day-to-day management and coordination of all project activity planning, implementation, communication, reporting, budget expenditures and project staff supervision.

· Provide support to small-scale farmers/ groups to set up and/or strengthen agri-businesses along target value chains & access markets for their products.

· Set-up of coaching programs on agribusiness management for female entrepreneurs.

· Identify and assess end markets, relevant market actors, and establish relationships/networks with key actors/influencers.

· Build strategic relationships and key stakeholders in Tanzania eg with government, private sector, development actors, donors etc.

· Be creative in engaging target beneficiaries and partners in a participatory process approach in implementation of the project.

· Oversee the financial management of the project in compliance with financial management procedures and accounting standards as well as all administration systems and processes of the Traidcraft Exchange Tanzania office.

· Oversee the compliance of all statutory requirements of the Traidcraft Exchange in Tanzania.

· Support project downstream partners to delivery their project responsibility.

· Effectively support and line manage the Enterprise Development Officer and the Finance and Administration Officer.

· Oversee project monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL); ensure learning from the project is well captured and shared with the Project Management team.

· Development of the project quarterly reports, annual reports, and work plans, as well as regular donor updates and knowledge products as requested and needed.

· Responsible for financial planning of the project and budget revisions as and when required.

You will be:

· Process orientated and proactive manager able to lead and deliver on project goals, objectives, and impact sensitively and inclusively.

· Experienced in business or value chain development.

· An excellent trainer/facilitator and listener.

· An excellent communicator in Kiswahili and English (verbal and written).

· A team player, with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Willing to travel within project sites.

You will have:

· A relevant academic qualification: Advanced university degree in entrepreneurship, agribusiness, business administration or agriculture.

· At least 6 years project management experience and a strong agricultural value chain development focus.

· Good understanding of trading environment in Tanzania.

· Experience in trade facilitation or agribusiness development.**

· Experience of analysing and understanding market system dynamics and designing market system intervention strategies that advance competitiveness of smallholder farmers.**

· Experience in using participatory approaches and methodologies.**

· Participatory planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills **

· Excellent team and people management skills

· Excellent reporting skills.
