Description

JOB DETAILS:
The Role:
• Working at Ubongo won’t be easy, but it will challenge and excite you with lots of opportunities for learning, and plenty of fun, and give you the opportunity to impact the lives of millions of kids every day.
• We’re looking for a dynamic, creative and flexible Neurodiversity Intern to expand and improve our Education and Research department.

• You’ll work closely with our Disability and Inclusion Specialist, Head of Education and Pre-Production team, to realize our goal to impact the lives of 60 million kids across Africa by 2025, by making our content more inclusive of all kids, including those with Autism and ADHD.
The neurodiversity internship program takes place at our Ubongo headquarters in Dar es Salaam, beginning early December 2022 and ending in June 2023. During this time, the interns will get a chance to work in production, pre-production or education and research roles. The programme will include access to professional development training, regular meetings with teams and managers and opportunities to try out different roles within the organisation.
• The interns will meet in the office starting on the 12th December to prepare them for working in an international NGO environment. Day 1 will involve a meeting with the programme supervisor, a tour of the Ubongo office and a mini-orientation on the work of Ubongo. The purpose is to ease the transition from the classroom to the workplace and help equip interns with the information, resources and skills needed for a successful experience at Ubongo.

Supportive and Inclusive Work Environment
• We pair the interns with a buddy or mentor throughout the program who they will meet with periodically at an agreed-upon frequency. Interns also have ongoing check-ins with their manager. Collectively, the interns meet frequently with the program manager to talk through their challenges, successes and questions in a safe and inclusive environment.

Who Qualifies for the Neurodiversity Internship Program?
• Candidates who are neurodivergent themselves (e.g. autism/ADHD) with either or both professional and lived experience are highly encouraged to apply for this internship program.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili in speaking and writing.
