ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Position: Graduate Hydrogeologist
Contract type & Duration: Unspecified time contract

R Reporting to: Superintendent 1 – Hydrogeology.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To assist hydrogeology team in hydrogeology data collection, analyse and interpret from both open pit and underground operations to meet the mining target. The position will be accountable for covering hydrogeology works at all our operations (open pit and underground). Assist advising hydrogeology management on day-to-day work improvement to achieve the company Goals and its values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree graduate in/with Geology or Hydrogeology from a recognized institution.

EXPERIENCE:
One to two years working experience in mining operations involved in hydrogeology work.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Hydrogeological field data monitoring and collection.
Perform field activities in a safe and sustainable manner, in accordance with the HSE requirements/standards.
Ensure high quality data collection and other appropriate quality analysis and control procedures are followed, including reviewing reported data.
Reporting based on the data collected and projects completed.
Comply with all applicable AGA policies and procedures.
Ensure the security of all samples and analytical results and ensure confidentiality of all company information.
Always, act in accordance with AGA’s values.
Demonstrate a consistent work behaviour within the company Values and work within prescribed boundaries, including required behaviour, company policies, standards, procedures, and legislation requirements.
Disclosing timely information to supervisor/manager when accountability cannot be met within limits or can be met with less time or resources than planned.

To assist in conducting hydro-drilling supervision, to achieve all hydrogeology works in time and within budget allocated.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have basic knowledge in performing hydrogeology work in mining, working history in both open pit and underground mining will be an added advantage.
Should have basic knowledge in using some geological software such as ArcGIS.
Should have wide knowledge in interpreting geophysical, structural and geo-hydro-chemistry data with relation to hydrogeology.
Should possess valid Tanzania Driving licence class D and be able to drive in mining environment.
Must have knowledge and be competent in borehole siting, drilling supervision, logging rock chips and pumping test supervising.
Must know how to work under pressure and under minimum supervision.
Report writing and presentation
Be able to use MS Excel and Word
Should be able to understand and interpret hydrogeological data
Understand principles for drilling boreholes/piezometers
Understand pump performances and efficiencies
Good communication skills
