Role Description

The General Assembly “Regal” team (that’s regulatory + legal, of course) is a critical partner to every department at GA. While working with our clients, we focus on getting to “yes” in an efficient and effective manner, with minimal risk and maximal fun.

As Senior Contracts Manager, you will be our contracts Czar and as such, your primary focus will be to negotiate a wide range of contracts. You will provide pragmatic, business-focused advice to internal teams on contract structure and interpretation, and develop systems and processes (playbooks, policies, trainings, etc) to streamline the contracting process.

You will work in collaboration with the rest of the Regal team, as well as global stakeholders across multiple functions (Sales, Finance, IT, InfoSec, Marketing, Product and Engineering, Social Impact and Strategic Partnerships) in order to drive towards a quick close.

This position is remote and will report to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate contracts, balancing business goals against legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk. Enterprise sales (MSA, SOW, NDA) and vendor (services and software license) agreements predominate, but contracts may also include revenue-sharing partnership, marketing, and affiliate, and other, bespoke, agreements.
  • Lead GA’s selection and implementation of a new contract management system to streamline contract negotiation and approvals.
  • Draft, review and approve legal copy for consumer-facing terms & conditions, marketing materials, and other promotional terms.

  • You have a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves, and a desire to get into the details of the business and legal work of the company - no job too big or small.
  • 8-10+ years of experience negotiating commercial contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or completion of ABA-approved paralegal program a plus, so is familiarity with Salesforce, Confluence, Jira, and contract management systems
