About the role | Mō te tūngaWe are looking for compassionate and resilient people to join our supported accommodation service in Paraparaumu as Mental Health Support Workers.We are contracted by Manatū Hauora/Ministry of Health to provide a housing and recovery service focusing on supporting people with a mental illness. Many residents also have other issues such as substance abuse, intellectual disability, or physical health problems. Some are under the Mental Health Act.We are a cluster of six homes in a suburban neighbourhood, close to QEII Park and Raumati beach. Staff work across the site, supporting residents to set goals, manage medication, complete activities of daily living, and explore new possibilities for growth and development. We work closely with local health and support services.In This Role You Will

- $22.70 - 28.25 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, with the ability to earn more as you gain qualifications

- A commitment to respecting the rights of people with a mental illness and to supporting them to achieve their goals
- Be able to work with a diverse range of people with a non-judgmental approach
- Be willing to develop new skills and gain National Certificate in Mental Health qualification
- Be flexible in your availability (including being able to work evenings, weekends, sleepovers and awake overnights)
- Have a full NZ drivers' licence or be able to gain this within 3 months
- Experience within the mental health or caregiving field is desirable
