Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Included but not limited to)

  • Overall management for the Lodge, including operations, guest experience, R&M, kitchen, financial and staff management and development
  • Direct line management responsibility for the Lodge senior management team and indirectly for a team of staff
  • Budget and forecast creation, management and control in conjunction with the Lodge Administrator and the Regional Finance Manager. Management of the camp CAPEX programs
  • Human capital management and staff development
  • IT - maintenance IT
  • Security - security, emergency response and fire control
  • Healthcare – reviewing healthcare facilities and evacuation arrangements
  • Environmental health – waste, sanitation, mosquito and pest control
  • Logistics - camp moving, set up and take down
  • Government – liaison with local, regional and national Government and relevant stakeholders in conjunction with the Regional Manager. Compliance with local licensing, permits etc.
  • Conservation – working with the Africa Foundation in conservation and community projects and partnerships
  • Sustainability – responsible for ensuring sustainability targets are met and improved upon year on year
  • Risk Assessment – ensure lodge is risk assessment compliant
  • Lodge Marketing – management of the camp social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, etc. Ensure regular stories to the team are distributed and that the Lodge maintains a strong presence in internal comms
  • Must be willing to travel to and from the various camps and Lodges.

Required profile for job ad : Lodge Manager - MaraESSENTIAL REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge and competence of Microsoft Office programs (word; excel)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ Management experience in 5-star boutique operation
  • Lodge and Camp management experience desireable
  • Hospitality and Service Training Experience
