Role Description

• This is a full-time, on-site role located on Zanzibar Island in Tanzania.
• The Maintenance & Facilities Manager will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair operations as well as ensuring that all of the facilities, equipment, and systems are in excellent condition to provide guests with a comfortable and safe stay.
• This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and management skills plus the tact of overseeing a varied group of technicians, fundis & landscaping staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field
• 6+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or construction
• Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, and knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Experience managing a team of maintenance technicians & fundis, with strong hands-on leadership and communication skills
• Experience in budgeting, project management, and dealing with vendors & suppliers
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and flexibility to work in a dynamic resort environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Successful candidate will have no issues with working long hours (including nights, weekends and holidays) in order to achieve their set goals
• Conversational knowledge of the Kiswahili language will be an asset
• Experience in the hospitality industry is a major advantage
