Description

PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships, and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges.

The Center of Digital and Data Excellence (CoDE) at PATH works with government ministries of health, the private sector, and donors to advance the digital transformation of global health.

Digital Square is CoDE’s global flagship initiative leading this complex multinational transformation. This $150M+ initiative is PATH-led and funded by more than 15 donors, including USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, leading more than 50 partners across 33 countries to advance digitally enabled health services to help close the health equity gap; it is a marketplace - or ‘square’ - where supply and demand come together to accelerate health equity.

Conceived from the lessons of the inefficiencies, redundancies, and fragmentation of prior investments in digital technologies for international development, Digital Square:

  • works with ministries of health to align adaptable, interoperable digital technologies with local health needs
  • bring partners at all levels together to improve how the global community designs, uses, and pays for digital health tools and approaches
  • advances seamless digital health tools by working closely with governments, technology experts, and everyday users to strengthen local capacity to adapt digital health global goods into local goods and to implement and manage digital health programs
  • Shape the field’s narrative and norms by contributing to and guiding strategic communications
  • Set an example of courageous leadership aligned with PATH and Digital Square’s values, bringing moral imagination and ethical lenses to the field of digital health
  • Frame and position the initiative’s work within a larger history and fight for global health equity and better accessibility to digital health tools
  • Influence public policy and funding to advance digital transformation and global health
  • Serve as the final point of contact for key partners, including funding partners
  • Find and create alignment with leaders across the ecosystem
  • Represent PATH and Digital Square as well as their values, and participate in high-impact events
  • Advocate on behalf of the initiatives to strengthen, expand, and diversify existing investor networks, exploring and catalyzing new financing models for digital transformation.

PATH is currently seeking a unique leader who can take Digital Square into its next chapter of growth, while also nurturing and strengthening the existing global digital health ecosystem. Reporting to PATH’s Chief Digital Officer, this role requires a leader who can cultivate a culture of innovation and inspiration while managing and providing direction for some of the most skilled and visionary experts in the field of global digital health. The successful candidate will shape and champion Digital Square’s vision and influence the future of the ecosystem through their work across funders, government, and local community leaders. A key focus of this role will be on building strong private sector partnerships, attracting new funding avenues, and enhancing connectivity across the digital ecosystem. This role provides a rare opportunity to not only make a significant contribution to the field of work, but to directly shape and influence the digital transformation of country health systems and global health as a whole. Managing a team of approximately 85 people, the Head of Digital Square will be a strong team leader and integral member of the CoDE leadership team, driving program strategy across PATH and collaborating with external stakeholders.
