Job Summary

 

An exciting opportunity exists in Moa, Cuba for a Commercial Strategies Advisor. The position supports the planning, development and implementation of process and improvement strategies for the Moa Joint Venture.

The position is a Fixed Term expatriate position for approx. 3 – 5 years located in Moa - Cuba, working on a 4 weeks /2 weeksrotation.

Accountabilities

 

  • Assist with strategy development for critical operating chemicals and other operating commodities.
  • Define the process and rule of engagement for all strategic sourcing opportunities to ensure a controlled market approach
  • Support the strategy development and implementation for all global category initiatives.
  • Lead the development of strategic sourcing strategies including product standardization and the use of proper sourcing channels.
  • Lead the implementation of the enterprise-wide standard taxonomy for data management and reporting
  • Support the new ERP system development and implementation.
  • In collaboration with the Operational Excellence, develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support the delivery of commercial outcomes that are consistent with the Moa Joint Venture objective to deliver zero harm to employees, the environment and neighboring communities.
  • Ensure all global commercial contracts and activities comply with the Moa Joint Venture responsible and sustainable sourcing strategies and targets.
  • Establish a high level of employee engagement via effective communication and aligned culture.
  • Establish and monitor a strong internal customer focus to ensure sourcing outcomes are aligned with the organization’s objectives and delivered through effective customer-focused standards and behaviors.
  • Improve commercial performance by staying aware of and adopting good or best practices, implementing technical innovation, and improving management systems.
  • Establish and operationalize business analytics, performance management goals and KPIs.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and effective change management in support of ongoing value creation.

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma, preferably in Business or Supply Chain.
  • Professional designation such as SCMP, or similar.
  • 5 – 8 years’ experience in category management and/or strategic sourcing.
  • Prior expat experience is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of contracting law and contracting best practices.
  • Negotiation leadership skills to achieve sustainable and cost effective commercial outcomes in complex business environments.

  • Fluent in Spanish is an asset
