About the job

WSU International development is seeking a contractor to work with a Tanzanian agricultural NGO to strengthen and diversify its funding sources for 2020-2024, implement programmatic and operational strategy, and realize financial sustainability, the organization’s growth, and business development.

 

Preferred Qualifications

a.    A master degree or above in business administration related studies, major in business development, organizational behavior, marketing and finance and international business from officially recognized and registered institution.

b.   7-10 years of new business development experience

c.    Demonstrated experience working with outside organizations to build capacity

d.   Experience with organizational sustainability, stakeholder mapping, developing business plans, and proposal development

e.    Demonstrated excellent communications skills and ability to work well on a diverse team

 

Expected level of effort: 15hrs/week for 12 weeks, 180 hours total

Technical assistance requested:

a.    Conduct trainings for Senior Management Team and other staff

b.   Build staff capacity in business development and achieving buy-in from potential donors.

 

Deliverables

  1. A coherent strategic engagement plan
  2. Services inventory – document mapping out what services the organization provides to the private sector, create user-friendly inventory to better market the organization
  3. List of potential donors and partners

i.   Work with the organization to identify five new funding partners and develop strategies for building relationships with those partners

List of competitors

  1. List of agricultural service institutions likely to support the organization to achieve its objectives.
  2. Networking and partnership development strategy
  3. Donors map - programmatic list of potential donors likely to support the organization, potentially include direct donor consultations
  4. Private sector agricultural map - integration of current private sector partners (Large, Medium and SMEs) and evaluate their potential to enable the organization to achieve its objectives
  5. Agricultural services map (list/identification of Agricultural services institutions that are likely to support the organization to achieve its objectives)
  6. Sustainable Funding Strategy
  7. Work with the organization to develop a resource mobilization manual
  8. Develop internal resource mobilization policies and incentives
  9. Donor-specific proposals for submission to various funders
  10. Work with the organization to implement a Resource Mobilization Implementation Plan
  11. Increase organizational capacity for relationship management
  12. Provide virtual trainings on partner engagement, effective communication, and networking strategies.
  13. Host virtual workshops on government relations and government interactions.
  14. Develop strategy guides with staff and leadership to guide future interactions with stakeholders.
  15. Work with the organization to develop standard language to discuss their work, successes, and culture for adaptation to a variety of communications needs, including to secure funding from donor agencies.

 

Methodology:

The contractor will work virtually by email, telephone, and virtual meeting platform with the new business development team to review and implement the organizations’ resource mobilization strategy and increase the organization’s resource mobilization capacity.
