Job Purpose
- Responsibility for implementation of the agreed Premier and Prestige strategy in Tanzania, driving and delivering exceptional business performance through powerful leadership of the regional Head of Segment.

- Responsible for the overall performance of Premier and Prestige Segment in-country
Main Accountabilities And Approximate Time Split
Providing Powerful Leadership 40%
- Build, develop and motivate high performing teams committed to achieving success through each other
- Ensure that your Managers are developed to achieve their maximum potential whilst also coaching them to build their awareness of the strengths/development needs of their people
- Effective resource management/planning that reflect current and future business requirements – ensuring the correct balance of numbers, skills, and experience of your people
- For all direct reports, agreeing challenging performance objectives and measures providing regular feedback and honest assessment on achievements
- In the way you lead daily, be a role model for your people – doing things wholeheartedly, communicating with passion and enthusiasm, embracing change as a way of working

DRIVING bUSINESS DIRECTION 40%
- Work with the BA head of segment to agree the proposition strategy for Tanzania.
- Own and bring this strategy to life for stakeholders, clients, and colleagues to provide clear direction on the proposition objectives. Translate and priorities the objectives into business performance measures at country level
- Accountable for overall achievement of Affluent segment Performance Objectives for nominated areas:
- Employee satisfaction
- Customer experience
- Sales growth and income contribution
- Cost performance
- Operational Risk and Rigour management
- Understand and articulate aggregated country requirements and feed this back to the BA segment head to shape the client offering
- Collaborate cross – functionally to provide high standards of service delivery
- Work with the Head of branch network and head of sales to achieve sales & service objectives through in-branch business development activities, providing feedback to the branch network on their performance.
- Work with Prestige portfolio managers to develop customer approaches for individual prestige relationships, setting size of wallet and cross-sell targets, and providing regular coaching and feedback to them on their progress towards achieving objectives.
- Coach Prestige Portfolio managers on available retail products, process, and criteria to ensure that they become experts in selling.
- Discuss and finalize Performance Development Plans and ratings for Portfolio managers and Premier Relationship Managers.
Risk and Controls Objectives 20%
- In the event of major issues in the business unit, act as crisis coordinator and allocate tasks to the crisis teams.
- Review the risk and compliance profiles of the business unit on a regular basis and provide consultative support to the Managing Director on changes that are required to rebalance risk and reward where required.
- Understanding of own role in the end-to-end processes in which you play a part, including applicable risks and controls.
- Adhere to Absa’s policies and procedures applicable to own role, demonstrating sound judgment and responsible risk management.
- Keep up to date on all regulatory changes and can articulate the impact to the Business, be well informed on the industry thinking.
- All mandatory training completed to deadline.

Knowledge, Expertise And Experience
- In – depth understanding of the full range of Premier/Prestige product set, Small Business Services, and an overview of Corporate.
- An understanding of technical support systems e.g., Brains, Winfos.
- Good understanding of BARAF Risk Policy and Group governance requirements.
- Detailed understanding of Premier/Prestige Strategy, operating structure, and interface with other functions
- Good understanding of Absa Africa Group structure and interfaces with other functions
- Knowledge of the Absa Africa people policies and procedures.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of competitor and market activity in local cluster
- Graduate calibre with circa 7 years experience in business management.
- Business Management experience of a distributed channel; circa 3-5 years
- Experience of managing large teams
- An understanding of the Personal High Value Clients’ needs in the East African marketplace
- Basic understanding of investment banking techniques and products
