About the job

Our client, in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, is seeking a dynamic and experienced management couple to oversee their farming operations, focusing on the cultivation and development of macadamias, coffee, and bananas. The Management Couple will be responsible for the strategic management and day-to-day operation. This role requires a well-coordinated team with expertise in both agricultural management and business development to ensure the farm's success.

Responsibilities

Cropping Manager:

  • Oversee the cultivation, planting, and harvesting of macadamias, coffee, and bananas, ensuring adherence to best agricultural practices.
  • Develop and implement crop management plans, including pest and disease control, irrigation, fertilization, and soil management.
  • Monitor crop health, yield, and quality to maximize productivity and profitability.
  • Manage a team of farm workers, providing guidance, training, and supervision as needed.
  • Maintain and manage farm equipment and machinery, ensuring proper functionality and regular maintenance.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to streamline crop production processes and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations on the farm.

Business Development Manager

 

  • Identify and pursue business opportunities to expand market reach and increase sales of macadamias, coffee, and bananas.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote farm products and establish partnerships with distributors, retailers, and export markets.
  • Conduct market research to understand consumer preferences, trends, and pricing strategies within the agricultural sector.
  • Negotiate contracts, agreements, and pricing terms with buyers and suppliers.
  • Manage sales forecasts, budgets, and financial reports related to crop sales and business development activities.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop long-term business plans aligned with the farm's objectives.
  • Represent the farm at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and foster relationships within the agricultural community.

  • Strong business acumen with a track record in sales, marketing, or business development within the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and agricultural management software.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Management, or related fields. Advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in agricultural management, crop cultivation, and farm operations.
