This is a remote volunteer role for a Geographic Information System Intern. As a Geographic Information System Intern, you will be responsible for assisting with the collection, analysis, and visualization of geographic data. You will also support the development and maintenance of GIS databases, conduct spatial analysis, and contribute to mapping projects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in GIS and apply your skills in real-world projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) principles and tools
• Knowledge in remote sensing spatial extraction and analysis
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArchGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth or other open source softwares
• Ability to collect, manipulate, and analyze spatial data
• Experience in data visualization and cartography
• Familiarity with GPS technology and data collection methods
• Basic understanding of databases and data management
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or a related field
• Basic knowledge in scientific writing
