Job Summary:

The Architectural Technician will create drawings and make models of building structures, research construction materials, translate the drawing and assist with building consent processes and delivery

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the daily designs and structures for construction, proposal, and delivery of construction activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Make detailed drawings and build models of building structures

• Interpret sketches and project instructions

• Research building materials

• Co-ordinate with other building professionals and deal with clients.

• Collating and organizing technical building information from architects

• Preparing designs using CAD (computer aided design) software and traditional drawing methods

• Making site visits

• Investigating and offering technical advice on factors that affect building developments, including user needs, site and building surveys, and regulatory requirements

• Monitoring designs for health and safety and contributing to risk assessments

• Coordinating detailed design information

• Preparing specifications for construction work

• Preparing drawings, plans, and documents for statutory approvals

• Obtaining and responding to tenders for construction work

• Preparing applications for approval by regulatory bodies

• Contributing to meetings and document preparation

• Researching new design processes, building legislation and technology.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• A freehand drawing ability

• Computer skills

• Strong mathematical skills

• An eye for detail and design

• Understanding of building technology

• Competence in CAD software and other design software

• An analytical mind with strong problem-solving ability

• Strong planning and organization skills

Education and Experience:

• Diploma in Civil engineering / Architecture or any equivalent from recognized/registered University or College.

• 1 year experience construction business.
