POSITION: GENERAL MANAGER

Northern Tanzania Beekeeping Company / Maasai Honey is in search of a business manager to join our growing team!

About the company: NTBC conducts beekeeping training programs in remote villages of Northern Tanzania, sells beekeeping equipment, plus presses, packages and distributes honey purchased from rural beekeepers. We work in both Arusha and Loliondo, with trainings conducted in various other locations. The manager will be based out of our Arusha Office in Usa River, but may also visit our second location in Loliondo (Ololosokwan Village).

About the job: The position involves managing a team of 6 (across both locations), overseeing all departments and operations. It requires excellent time management skills and multi-tasking abilities to ensure that all tasks and company activities are completed in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitating weekly meetings with all staff members and creating schedules of tasks.
• Ensuring there is clear communication across departments and locations.
• Supervising accounting tasks particularly Quickbooks records (QB desktop).
• Preparing tax computation spreadsheets for monthly returns.
• Ensuring that schedules of events and tasks are followed diligently.
• Assisting with the marketing and promotion of products in Arusha City and beyond.
• Drafting and editing critical documents such as contracts, legal agreements, and proposals.
• Communicating with relevant government agencies or partners concerning business registrations, compliances, and legal matters.
• Preparing and editing excel spreadsheets for recording data and information.
• Communicating with clients regarding products, services, and other relevant matters.
• Submitting weekly and monthly reports, plus the corresponding documents.

Required profile for job ad : General ManagerIn general, the candidate should have strong technology skills and the ability to communicate with team members and partners in various parts of the world.

• Routine reports on company activities will be required both weekly and monthly.
• The candidate should be a team player, while also possessing leadership skills to direct a team, set appropriate goals, and monitor progress.
• Applicant must either be Tanzanian or have permanent residency and a work permit. We will not supply work permits or resident permits.
• Knowledge of beekeeping is appreciated, but not required. Still, we would like to find someone who aligns with the company ethics related to sustainability and conservation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• A University degree from a relevant subject- business management, accounting, marketing, or procurement.
• Work experience will also be strongly considered.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in the business field, with appropriate references.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES

• Computer skills (MS Office suite) with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data entry, formulas, and spreadsheets for TZ tax computations.
• Business management and team leadership experience
• Accounting knowledge, specifically using Quickbooks Desktop & ability to oversee these tasks
• Knowledge of product marketing, promotion, and advertising
• Social media experience
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili (written and verbal)
