Job Description: Accounts Receivable Specialist at USAID Tanzania
Position Overview:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist at USAID Tanzania is responsible for managing the financial transactions and records pertaining to accounts receivable. This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of operations, processes and monitors incoming payments, and secures revenue by verifying and posting receipts. The specialist will work closely with the finance team to support USAID’s mission by maintaining precise financial records and facilitating smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Management: Prepare, verify, and process invoices for services rendered or goods provided by USAID Tanzania.
- Payment Processing: Accurately record and reconcile incoming payments in compliance with USAID policies and procedures.
- Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Financial Reporting: Generate detailed financial reports, summaries, and statements as required by management and stakeholders.
- Communication: Liaise with donors, partners, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies, answer inquiries, and facilitate prompt payment.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with USAID financial guidelines and local regulations, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of documents and reports for audits and respond to auditor inquiries regarding accounts receivable.
- Data Management: Maintain records of all transactions, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Required profile for job ad : Accounts ReceivableQualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounts receivable, financial management, or related areas, preferably within an international organization.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge: Familiarity with USAID financial policies and procedures is a plus.
Language: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
Location: USAID Tanzania office, with occasional travel as required.
Type: Full-time position with standard office hours. Some flexibility may be required for extended hours during peak periods or emergencies.
