JOB DESCRIPTION
A Spanish-English-Swahili Translator is responsible for converting written or spoken content from Spanish to English/Swahili and vice versa. This role requires a deep understanding of both languages, excellent communication skills, and cultural sensitivity. Spanish-English Translators work in various industries, including business, healthcare, legal, and entertainment, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate translations.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
• Translation: Translate written documents, audio recordings, or live speech from Spanish to English/Swahili and vice versa while preserving the meaning, context, and tone of the original content.
• Proofreading: Review and proofread translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity. Correct any grammatical, typographical, or punctuation errors.
• Cultural Understanding: Understand the cultural
nuances and context of both source and target languages to provide culturally sensitive and appropriate translations.
• Research: Conduct research to ensure the correct terminology and specialized vocabulary are used in translations, especially for technical or industry-specific documents.

• Interpretation: Provide interpretation services during meetings, conferences, or other events, conveying messages accurately and clearly between Spanish and English speakers.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other translators, editors, and content creators to maintain consistency in translations across various projects.

• Client Communication: Communicate with clients to understand their specific translation needs, answer queries, and provide project updates.
• Deadline Management: Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously, adhere to deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Quality Control: Ensure translations meet high-quality standards, including grammar, punctuation, and language usage. Use translation tools and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the content of the documents being translated, especially for sensitive or confidential information.

PROFFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Fluency: Proficiency in both Spanish, Swahili and
English, including a deep understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions in both languages.
• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Translation,
Linguistics, Spanish, English, or a related field. Relevant certifications in translation are a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience as a translator is preferred, especially in specialized fields such as legal, medical, technical, or literary translation.

• Cultural Awareness: Strong cultural understanding of Spanish-speaking regions and English-speaking regions to ensure accurate and culturally appropriate translations.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish, Swahili and English. Ability to convey complex ideas and concepts clearly and accurately.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and strong proofreading skills to deliver error-free translations.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in translation software, word processing, and other relevant tools.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different writing styles, accents, and dialects in both languages.
• Professionalism: High level of professionalism,
reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
• A candidate should at least possess bachelors’ degree in Spanish.
• Knowledge in mechanical/electrical engineering is an added advantage.
• Swahili language proficiency will be an added advantage.
