Resettlement Supervisor/Manager

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the resettlement process including Tanzania Law, from surveying, compensation schedules and physical relocation processes
  • Manage land acquisition processes through RAP
  • Take the lead in liaising with the community on behalf of the company
  • Maintain and manage grievance mechanism, recording, understanding, detailing the resolution process and closing them out
  • Keep records of all resettlement actions in our database, up to date at all times
  • Create and implement a planned support structure for affected households and marginalized groups
  • Plan and lead community meetings and other stakeholder engagement activities when required
  • Build relationships with the community and the PAPs (Affected people) through in field interactions as well as scheduled meetings
  • Have an understanding of possible social issues presenting to communities that are being relocated
  • Maintain a current understanding of political relationships with local government and how these effect our project and community relationships
  • Proactively identify and mitigate any possible risks to the company that may arise from the community
  • Manage survey and statistic reporting of PAPs with accuracy
  • Be responsible for the overall execution and implementation of all RAP processes
  • Oversee any possible RAP expansion plans
  • Liaise directly with contractors associated with RAP and collate all reporting requirements from RAP contractors
  • Assist the ESG team with the collation of data for all social matters
  • Work closely with local government in communications and information sharing when needed
  • Lead the CSR committee once formed and assist in guiding the community in community spend and areas of need, in consultation with government representatives and agendas
  • Act as translator for the management team when required
  • Oversee all activities directly related to resettlement of the community
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on status of RAP activity

Experience Required

  • Must have been through multiple resettlement processes previously in Africa in a senior capacity (Tanzania preferred)
  • Master’s degree in at least one associated social degree
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Must have completed detailed monthly reports and share examples of such reporting
  • Must have a working understanding of ESG and preferably UNSDGs
  • Strong communicator in challenging environments
  • Understanding of local languages beneficial
  • Rotation 8/3 from Dar es Salaam
