The Nest Boutique Resort is a beachfront hotel in Paje, located in Zanzibar South & Central, Tanzania. The resort is dedicated to creating a unique experience for visitors, with an emphasis on friendship, closeness to nature, and personal growth. The Nest is also home to the first 100% vegetarian restaurant on the beach of Paje, serving dishes made with local and fresh ingredients.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Sous Chef at The Nest's vegetarian restaurant. The Sous Chef will be responsible for daily food preparation, menu planning, and execution of dishes. They will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure that all meals are prepared with the highest quality and served in a timely manner. The Sous Chef will also be responsible for supervising and training kitchen staff.
Qualifications
• Culinary degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience in vegetarian and plant-based cooking
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques and methods
• Ability to manage and lead a team
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in a high-end restaurant or hotel is a plus
• Familiarity with local Tanzanian and East African cuisine is a plus
