JOB TITLE – FIELD COORDINATOR – IMPACT EVALUATION (1 POST)
Contract to be offered – 2 years (with possibility of extension up to 56 months)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To undertake high quality research including conducting and advising on quantitative techniques in impact evaluation, process evaluations, scoping studies, systematic reviews and evidence gap maps across a range of sectors but with particular emphasis on health, ecosystem services, agriculture and climate change adaptation.
- Working alongside the principal investigators to lead/assist in the management of field work, field data collection and ensure secure storage of information and data
- To contribute to development of the program’s monitoring and evaluation framework and Theory of Change, and to develop and implement appropriate methods of data collection, analysis and reporting
- To contribute to peer-reviewed publications, policy reports and other output, according to publication and authorship guidelines.
- To lead on new methods and/or development of innovative research topics and study designs including but not limited to capacitybuilding, evaluation methods, database development, evidence uptake and use.
PROFILE
Qualifications
A postgraduate degree in public health, ecosystem services or climate change adaptation, or other relevant area that includes that includes advanced training in statistics, econometrics, experimental and quasi-experimental methods.
Skills
- Advance use of statistical software (R, Stata, SAS or other equivalent)
- Contributions to written output, preferably peer-reviewed articles
- Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a dynamic research team
- Proven ability to meet research deadlines
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English and Kiswahili.
- Evidence of good organizational skills, including effective time management
Experience
- Relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental methods applied in impact evaluation for research purposes
- Experience conducting, managing and quality-assuring data collection activities
Desirable criteria
- Some experience of contributing to research grant applications.
- Some experience of teaching and assessment and in developing teaching/educational resources
- Some experience of supervising and supporting junior researchers and/or research degree students, and non-academic staff.
