Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Executive Chef to join our team at Kilindi, located on the Island of Zanzibar.
As an Executive Chef, you will play a pivotal role in curating an extraordinary culinary experience for our guests while upholding the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the culinary team in menu execution, focusing on fresh, locally sourced, and sustainable ingredients.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste, consistently exceeding guest expectations.
- Manage all kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, and cost management.
- Mentor and inspire the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager to create unique dining experiences and themed events.
- Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate innovative ideas into the menu offerings.
- Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and report any issues promptly. Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to enhance team performance.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the kitchen.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef in a high-end restaurant or Hotel
- Strong culinary creativity and ability to design diverse, world-class menus.
- Proficient in kitchen management, budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
- Knowledge of local and international cuisines. Up-to-date with industry trends and certifications.
- Ability to work in a remote environment which has logistical challenges
