Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Executive Chef to join our team at Kilindi, located on the Island of Zanzibar.

As an Executive Chef, you will play a pivotal role in curating an extraordinary culinary experience for our guests while upholding the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the culinary team in menu execution, focusing on fresh, locally sourced, and sustainable ingredients.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste, consistently exceeding guest expectations.
  • Manage all kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, and cost management.
  • Mentor and inspire the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager to create unique dining experiences and themed events.
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate innovative ideas into the menu offerings.
  • Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and report any issues promptly. Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to enhance team performance.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the kitchen.

Qualifications

 

  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef in a high-end restaurant or Hotel
  • Strong culinary creativity and ability to design diverse, world-class menus.
  • Proficient in kitchen management, budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
  • Knowledge of local and international cuisines. Up-to-date with industry trends and certifications.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment which has logistical challenges
