Description

We are looking for a dynamic Environmental Consultant to join our team in Tanzania. The perfect candidate will be an organised and detailed person who is able to manage and carry out administration on environmental projects in accordance with budget, time and quality standards.

You must want to learn and be part of a great team of scientists.

  • Effectively project manage and administrate the environmental legislative processes applicable to the country for clients and maintaining an awareness of how legislation impacts projects. For example.,
  • Environmental Management Act, 2004 (No.20 of 2004). EIA and Audit Regulations,2005 (as amended in 2018). Mining Act, 2010 (No. 14 of 2010).
  • Effectively project manage and administrate the following:
  • Environmental authorization processes
  • EIA and EMP report writing
  • Compile and write reports for submission to the client and necessary authorities.
  • Carry out legal audits with regards to relevant legislation.
  • Mining Applications
  • Working in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.
  • Liaising with clients and authorities
  • Working under strenuous conditions on site.

  • Knowledge of Applicable Environmental and Mining legislation.
  • Knowledge of IFC and World bank principles would be preferable.
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Must have excellent report writing skills.
  • Communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong ability to network with clients.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and drivers’ license.
  • Willing to travel throughout Africa and elsewhere, as the need arises.
  • Able to work in a team and independently.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and drivers’ licence.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Environmental Science/ Management or similar.
  • A Project Management certification would be advantageous.
  • NEMC registration as an Environmental and/or Social Specialist is advantageous.

Work Experience 

  • 5 - 8 years in environmental consultancy services with proven proficiency in implementing provisions under EMA and the EIA and Audit Regulations.
  • 5 - 8 years' experience in conducting environmental and social impact assessment against international standards (e.g. IFC, EP4) within the mining industry would be advantageous.
