Position Summary:
The Engineering Service Group’s primary focus is to provide application knowledge and technical support to targeted product initiatives, market segments, and key customers. This is accomplished through a global network of Engineering Services technical resources: Field Engineers, Applications Engineers, and Technical Specialists. The Engineering Services Supervisor is responsible for a team of technical resources located across a geographical region or supporting a target market. The role serves as a subject matter expert and guide for the technical resources for which s/he is responsible and is expected to provide clear direction, mentoring and leadership to the group as they develop and provide fluid handling solutions to specific customer needs and specifications through project support or onsite troubleshooting as part of evaluation and advisory services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leads by example, following Engineering Services processes and standard work to focus on in-the-moment priorities and while supporting technical resources in the field.
• Demonstrates alignment of corporate mission, vision, values and strategies
• Demonstrates engagement and relationship building skills
• Maintains fair and consistent application of all company policies and procedures
• Works with Sales and Service Center (SSC) leadership to resolve personnel issues or conflicts
• Creates and maintains an environment that promotes teamwork, cooperation toward shared goals and conflict resolution across their team(s)
• Clearly owning & delivering messages, “connecting the dots” for SSC associates
• Accountable for directing resources towards the attainment of prioritized objectives and delivery of Engineering Services projects
• Communication with SSC leadership to ensure requirements are universally understood.
• Ensures attainment of Engineering Services goals by communicating progress regularly through management updates, team meetings and monthly reports
• Manages staffing requirements for technical activities to meet project priorities and loads through associate development and team deployment
• Balances resources both within, and between distributorships based on current priorities utilizing the shared services model
• Thinks, operates, and develops solutions and services from a customer’s point of view while demonstrating alignment with Swagelok’s Core Values, and creates a positive brand experience and engrains this same behavior within the technical community
• Collaborates on the development of plans to address skill gaps within the workforce
• Develops technical SSC associates through effective use of training and engagement plans
• Coaches and mentors associates to help them achieve their career goals
• Continuously develops self through additional training, continued education, and benchmarking opportunities
• Develops the technical capabilities and leadership competencies of the Engineering Services group to effectively lead change initiatives

Education: Bachelor’s in Engineering or other science related field or (significant) relevant experience in lieu of degree
Experience:
• 3-5+ years of engineering experience in a technical field/specialization. Previous technical leadership and SSC experience is preferred.
• Managing a remote regional team while delegating challenging assignments
• Proven abilities in leadership including evaluating, encouraging, motivating, disciplining, regarding others
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with distributors and customers
• Through an application engineering effort, able to understand customer applications and develop/provide fluid handling solutions to specific customer needs and specifications.
• Ability to interpret and understand customer applications in order to develop P&ID and fluid schematics.
• Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects using problem solving methods to make sound engineering decisions.
• Able to identify and assess new opportunities.
• Strong computer skills.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
• The position is required to move, operate, activate, and transport, for the purpose of accessing, inspecting, operating, and/or demonstrating industrial equipment that is within the scope of Swagelok’s product and market segments.
• The position is required to communicate, converse, convey, and express with others, information that is frequently technical in nature.
• The position may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• % Of Time Spent Traveling: 25-50%
