CAMP MANAGER (2 POSITION)
Reports: General Manager/Operations Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Camp Manager with more than two years of experience in hospitality management to oversee the day-to-day operations of our camp. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing hospitality services, maintaining guest satisfaction, coordinating staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the camp. The Camp Manager will be responsible for providing high-quality guest experiences, managing camp logistics, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities,
• Manage and supervise all day-to-day operations of the camp, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage services.
• Ensure that all guests have a positive experience by addressing complaints, resolving issues, and maintaining high standards of customer service throughout their stay.
• Lead, train, and motivate camp staff, ensuring they perform their duties to the highest standard. This includes overseeing recruitment, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Monitor stock levels of supplies, equipment, and food. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely procurement of necessary materials.
• Prepare and manage the camp’s budget, ensuring cost control, proper allocation of resources, and efficient use of funds. Track expenses and provide regular financial reports to upper management.
• Ensure the camp complies with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, first aid, food hygiene, and other relevant legal requirements. Maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of camp facilities, including cabins, common areas, kitchens, and outdoor areas, to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Coordinate and organize guest activities, including outdoor adventures, team-building exercises, and entertainment events, to provide a diverse and enjoyable experience for all guests.
• Develop and implement emergency procedures and ensure staff is trained to respond to emergencies effectively, including medical incidents, fires, and evacuations.
• Gather and analyse guest feedback to continuously improve the quality of services and overall camp experience. Implement changes where necessary to meet guest expectations.
• Liaise with local authorities, tourism boards, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and compliance with local regulations.
• Work with the marketing team to promote the camp, attract new guests, and retain existing customers. Participate in social media campaigns, and develop packages or offers to increase occupancy.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping of all financial transactions, produce detailed financial reports, and present these to senior management regularly. Ensure adherence to financial procedures and accountability for all cash and credit transactions.
• Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage across all departments. Process payroll and handle employee benefits and other HR-related tasks.
• Promote and enforce environmentally sustainable practices, such as waste reduction, water conservation, and energy-saving initiatives, aligning with the camp’s eco-friendly goals.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality management, preferably in a camp or resort setting.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong understanding of hospitality operations, including guest services, housekeeping, and food & beverage management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with guests and staff.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to hospitality or camp management.
• Experience in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices is a plus.
