Helios Towers is a leading independent telecommunications infrastructure company, having established one of the most extensive tower portfolios across Africa. It builds, owns and operates telecom passive infrastructure, providing services to mobile network operators. Helios Towers currently operates in 6 markets in Africa and has recently signed agreements to enter 4 new markets in Africa and Oman in the Middle East.

 

Overview

Reporting to the Delivery and Business Excellence Director, you will lead business critical projects by motivating teams through the full business improvement process lifecycle through to successful solution implementation and to establish a framework to sustain such change within our business as usual. A key aspect of the role is to liaise with all OpCo’s and Group to share outcomes of improvement initiatives and lessons learnt to drive improvement across the organization as a whole.

The role can be based in either of our operating countries in Africa.

Role Responsibilities

As Business Excellence Manager, you will be able to:

  • Have ownership of key business excellence projects which successfully provide measureable CapEx, OpEx, performance or safety benefits
  • Define error signals, baseline data sets, process KPIs and the systems required to measure these.
  • Create and implement error investigation framework allowing the business to document and learn from failures
  • Lead data review meetings to assess methodology against success criteria and learn from any failings
  • Lead cross-functional/OpCo teams through the business excellence lifecycle that will bring measurable benefits to the business.
  • Use of Business Excellence Toolkit to provide new perspectives on problem solving
  • Set up and facilitate a Change Steering Committee using Orange Belts and Business Excellence Champions
  • Manage the group wide training schedule of Orange Belt and Black Belt candidates; eventual goal of upskilling Business Excellence team to be able to provide this training across the business and to remove reliance on external training providers
  • Build monthly reports on project progress, benefits and learnings
  • Structure complex problem solving initiatives to utilise control tests and statistical methods to achieve bottom-up problem solving

 

Requirements for the Role

To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:

  • Educated to degree level in Maths, Economics, Finance or Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading projects and owning critical business processes
  • Led business excellence initiatives in the past
  • Orange Belt and Black Belt Lean Six Sigma Certified
  • Telecoms, Finance, Operations, Process Improvement, Business Excellence
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in French is desirable
  • Advanced level in mathematics or other scientific subject essential
  • Telecommunications or other engineering topic desirable
