JOB DETAILS:
Carbon Tanzania is an innovative conservation business whose primary focus is to provide unique skills and interventions that lead to the production and delivery of forest-based carbon offsets. These carbon offsets are generated through the actions of local Tanzanian communities conserving and managing their indigenous trees and forests. Central to Carbon Tanzania’s innovative conservation approach is a fundamental respect for local community land rights; this approach generates significant and sustained local economic benefits that incentivize and enable communities to conserve their immediate environment on which their way of life depends.
Carbon Tanzania is looking for a dynamic and energetic Assistant Accountant to work within a growing company. The assistant accountant will be responsible for the stated responsibilities.

Duties and responsibilities
• Issue and keep company legal receipts and invoices
• Follow up on companies raised invoices for payments from clients
• Reconcile revenue and community share of revenues for all projects to conform to carbon regulations, company contracts and standards
• Follow up and file community minutes meetings, financial evidence and reports
• Follow up with government payments and collect bills, control number and receipts
• Keep track of community funds and keep approved reconciliations records
• Identify gaps and train communities on project financial compliances
• Record bank transaction and reconciliations for all community project accounts
• Ensure all financial transactions are accurately and posted in time
• Collect and collate all financial evidence from community plannings, budgeting and projects executions documents
• Ensure proper filling system and scanning all documents to Dropbox
• Identify and inform Director of Finance any red flags on community funds, Fraud and misuse
• Ensure completeness and proper recordings of community transactions
• Travels to project area to attend/ hosts events, collect information and proof of community spendings
• Prepare monthly withholding taxes, quarterly provisions and follow up for tax clearance
• Prepare monthly returns and ensure they are compliant to tax requirements and submit to Director of finance
• Do any other tasks assigned by the office & Finance Department

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Strong experience (minimum of 3 years) working on finance roles
• Degree in accounting, business and administration or finance related fields
• Accounting data and administrative management practices and procedures
• Competency with computer skills is essential
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Problem solving attitude
• Proficiency in English and Swahili as working languages
• Must be detail oriented
• Audit experience is an added advantage
