Short Brief of the Company
Dark Earth Carbon is a company that aims to reverse climate change by producing biochar, a type of charcoal that can sequester carbon and improve soil health. The company works with smallholder farmers in Africa, who can benefit from biochar application by increasing their crop yields, income, and resilience to drought and famine. We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined individual to join our team as a Logistics and Field Supervisor. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and hands-on experience in biochar industry.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate internal and external logistics movements, ensuring timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Manage field movements, including transportation of personnel, equipment, and supplies to various locations.
- Maintain an accurate account of all vehicles, including scheduling maintenance, tracking fuel consumption, and monitoring mileage.
- Oversee toyos and aggregation movements, ensuring efficient coordination and timely execution.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize logistics processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Monitor aggregation inventory levels and coordinate replenishment as needed to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Provide leadership and guidance to logistics and aggregation team members, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports related to logistics activities, including vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and inventory levels.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance operational performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in logistics coordination, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and logistics management software.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices in logistics and transportation.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
