Job Vacancy Announcement – Legal Aid Attorney at Inherit Your Rights
About Us
Inherit Your Rights is a Christian organization that seeks to bring women and girls in Tanzania under the rightful protection of the law through legal education and advocacy, for the eradication of gender-based injustice.
We currently work in the Arusha region of Tanzania, where we deliver legal and human rights training events and courses to women, children and the wider community, and provide free legal aid services to women in need.
The Position
We are recruiting a Legal Aid Attorney to join our team in Arusha, Tanzania, as we look to widen the reach of our work and grow our legal aid practice. Responsibilities include:
- Managing a legal aid case-load, providing full and effective legal representation to marginalized women and children.
- Maintaining good relationships with clients and providing appropriate and accurate advice.
- Drafting documents and filing case papers in the proper court channels.
- Working collaboratively with the rest of our team to provide a comprehensive legal service to our clients and training participants.
- Conducting community legal rights trainings and building good relationships with the communities and stakeholders that we serve.
- Developing and maintaining our training documents and legal rights’ manuals.
- Participating in other activities relevant to Inherit Your Rights’ work as a voice for women’s rights, equality, and justice.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience within the community.
- A keen interest in human rights issues and in particular, women’s rights.
- Excellent communication skills, research and writing skills.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
Salary
Inherit Your Rights offers fair remuneration to all its staff. The salary for this position will be dependent on a candidate’s qualifications and experience level.
