Job Description
Notice for board of directors vacancy
Gas Company (Tanzania) Limited (GASCO) is a wholly-owned company by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC). The Company was incorporated on 13th August 1985 and is mandated to carry out specialized natural gas operations in the petroleum value chain, including processing, transportation, distribution, construction and maintaining the National Natural Gas Infrastructures (NNGl) from Mtwara and Songo Songo Island to Dar es Salaam.
The Chairman of the TPDC Board of Directors is pleased to announce that GASCO is looking for interested individuals from diverse backgrounds to fill the vacant directors’ seats in its Board of Directors (Governing Board). The directors will hold the office for three years and may be eligible for re-appointment for another term of three years. The Directors of the Governing Board shall report to the Board of Directors of TPDC.

Major responsibilities of directors
• Providing strategic direction to the Company.
• Ensuring compliance by the Company with laws and regulations.
• Approving annual budgets and
• Identifying and monitoring key risks and ensuring that the company has effective systems of internal control to manage risk within acceptable parameters.
• Engaging outside auditors.
• Ensuring the integrity of financial statements.
• Reviewing major operational activities.
• Prescribing code of conduct for the management.
• Providing general guidance to Management Team.
• Protecting the company assets and interests of the shareholder.

Minimum qualifications
• A citizen of Tanzania of sound mind not less than 35 years.
• A minimum of Bachelor Degree from a recognised academic institution. Knowledge in oil and gas business, economics, finance, risk, law, business administration, engineering, environment and governance will be added advantage.

• Experience of 5 years or more in a senior position from a reputable organisation and or business.
• Previous experience in Board seating.
