Who are we?
Mydia-tz is a non-for profit, Non-Governmental Organization aiming at providing opportunities that empowers young people to create positive change through Education, Livelihoods and Health in Tanzania. Our main goal is enhancing and promoting good living standards to youth in Tanzania.
Our Mission: Bringing together initiatives to enhance youth through promotion of education, health (WASH, SRHR, Nutrition) and livelihoods for sustainable development, and ensure that the voices of young people are heard across decision-making platforms.

Our Volunteering Opportunities
Mydia-tz capitalizes on the role of human capital in attaining its goals, same as every nation does in order to attain real development. At Mydia-tz, every effort contributed by every person is heart fully appreciated. We are now inviting applications for volunteer roles from qualified and experienced young graduates to work for Mydia-tz. Preferred qualifications are in the field of Education, Economic development, Project Management, Business administration, Agricultural economics, Social sciences, Environmental health, Public and/Community Health.

How many Volunteers are needed and how will they be selected?
Four (4) volunteers will finally be selected from the above academic backgrounds. Applications will be assessed against pre-set criteria, and shortlisted applicants will be invited for a formal selection meeting. The finally selected candidates will be offered the following chances;
i. Programs & Support Coordinator (1 Position)
ii. Education programs fundraising officer (1 position)
iii. Agriculture & Livelihoods programs fundraising officer (1 position)
iv. Health and WASH programs fundraising officer (1 position)

What will Volunteers do?
The volunteers will work as a team in: -

  1. Search for appropriate grant opportunities that are in-line with Mydia-tz objectives.
  2. Supporting in project development and designing by bringing in innovative ideas (sector-specific aspects) for the whole project life cycle.
  3. Support in the development of projects including idea formulation, writing concept notes and full proposal development.
  4. Work closely with Mydia-tz’s partners on different project management issues
  5. Conduct different surveys for data use during proposal development.
  6. Liaising with sector-specific stakeholders on current and burning issues and working on the action points for the benefits of beneficiaries.
  7. Develop software, create and maintain organization databases, update web resources including social media and maintaining network and computing systems.
  8. Any other activity as assigned or instructed by supervisor.

Qualifications and Competencies/Attributes
Volunteers are expected to have, but not limited to the following qualities;
i. Good Project and Grants management skills, including concept note/proposal development, Logical frame works development, Budget development
ii. Good Report writing skills
iii. Computer literacy, expert on Ms. applications especially word and Excel
iv. Excellent interpersonal skills, proven team-building, organizational and communication skills
v. Innovative, flexible, disciplined, goal-oriented and willing to learn.

Office Offer:
This is a volunteer role. The office will only offer: -
i. Office space with basic furniture to work on.
ii. Activity-specific materials and stationeries.
iii. Communication support for liaison with other stakeholders.
iv. Tea/breakfast
v. Platform for learning (including Employment network support and coaching for interviewing)

Note: Mydia-tz is a small organization and works with different stakeholders on voluntary bases. While we value our tireless efforts provided by our volunteers, Mydia-tz is un-able to pay for salaries nor allowances due to budgetary constraints, unless for a staff working specifically on a funded project.

Our preference:
Preference will be given to applicants who are residents of Kigoma region – Tanzania (especially for Kasulu town residents), or those who can accommodate and sustain life themselves in Kasulu town. Qualified women are encouraged to apply.
