JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities
• Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International in Tanzania.

Resource planning and mobilization
Assist the Country Director in developing a program strategy for operations, creating a realistic financial and operational plan to execute on that strategy, and evaluating the results. This includes contributing to the annual budgeting process.

Advancement team liaison

• Oversee and coordinate the logistics required for field visits by donors and friends of HOPE, and act as point person with HOPE’s Central Service Unit (CSU) marketing staff on the same.
• Provide on-site assistance to CSU’s marketing staff in relation to collecting member/group stories, images, and other marketing impact reporting needs.

Spiritual Integration and Christian Witness

• Support the Spiritual Integration department in ensuring focus on the program’s Christ-centered mission and vision and promoting spiritual growth among staff, group members, and other associated parties, via weekly devotions, staff retreats and discipleship meetings.
• Ensure a personal healthy spiritual balance within family, work, and church life through the adoption of Biblical, personal, and spiritual disciplines.

Relationship Management
• Assist the Country Director (CD) in supporting the program by maintaining excellent relationships with staff and executive management, seeking collaborative opportunities between CSU and the field office.
• Assist the Country Director with Church relations management – compiling assessments for potential Church partners, facilitating orientation meetings, participation in steering meetings etc.

Project Management
• Take ownership of managing major projects within the program, especially those projects that cut across program functions and involve both program staff and CSU staff. These will vary based on the needs of the program, but may include changes to technology, methodology, and products/services. Wherever possible, mentor other staff in project management to build capacity.
• Support other departments in moving major projects forward and in improving project management tools.
• Serve as Innovation Lead (or coordinator) of all program innovation initiatives with the support of the CSU innovation team.

Listening, Monitoring, and Evaluation

• Serve as the project manager (or coordinator) of in-country listening, monitoring & evaluation activities of the SG program, with the support of the CSU LME & SG teams.
• Design overall listening and survey strategy for the program, assisting in the design, contextualization, and implementation of core listening, monitoring, and evaluation tools (e.g., HOPE Quotient) and piloting tools (when applicable), with the support of the CSU LME & SG teams.
• Oversee the implementation of the listening and survey work, both via internal staff/volunteers as well as hiring and managing external enumerators.
• Synthesize survey information for review and conduct analysis in collaboration with the CSU LME & SG teams.
• Present findings to core stakeholders (e.g., field/CSU management, church partners), and facilitate action planning process. Champion improvements in SG program resulting from listening and analysis.

Operational Reporting & Analysis

• Provide support to Country Director and team in the implementation of existing and new reporting, analysis, audit, and other associated tools and follow up with action items.
• Assist country leadership to ensure the timely submission of operational reports required for internal reporting, donors, auditors, the local government, and other parties.
• Collaborate with CSU team to ensure program activities are following HOPE SG standards and best practices for SGs.

Other Executive Support Responsibilities
The following are other potential areas of responsibilities dependent on the needs of country leadership. These are determined depending on program needs and candidate gifts/skills:
• Preparation of strategic reports and presentations to stakeholders
• Development and implementation of special projects and pilots
• Assist in recruitment and retention process for new staff and interns
• Facilitating innovation and collaboration across the field (partners, field staff and volunteers) and CSU to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of service to SGs
• Building capacity on the local team on specific skills and expertise
• Coordinate logistics for all regional/global HOPE staff meetings/conferences hosted by the Tanzania Savings Group program e.g., CD Retreats and other HOPE global SG meetings.
• Attend HOPE International’s annual Leadership Summit in Lancaster, PA in order to facilitate lateral learning and relationship building among the programs within HOPE’s network.

Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in international development (NGO), ministry contexts, or business.
• A Masters’ Degree in international/rural development or related discipline (social science) is preferred.
• Skilled leader, with excellent understanding of cross-cultural communications, multicultural workplace relationships, church relations, and the ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff.
• Project management experience, preferably multi-sector programs in rural Tanzania.
• Experience with savings groups and or Village Lending & Savings Associations (VSLAs) will be an asset.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Assertive self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with ability to communicate well across cultures and make analyses useful to audiences with differing levels of comfort in reading and interpreting data.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and Swahili.
• Excellent written, verbal, and computer-based communication skills.
• Passion to help the underprivileged to regain hope, dignity, and the ability to support themselves and their families.
• Demonstrated acumen in use of applicable technology systems, e.g., Excel, Power Point, databases.
• Commitment of at least 2-3 years expected, preferably longer.
