JOB DETAILS:
Designation/Position : Systems Administrator
Direct Report : AGM-IT
Job Purpose:
To perform IT administrative duties in maintaining the overall information & communication services.

Job Functions
• To ensure the work performed is in accordance with the IT and Bank’s polices.
• Provide internal customer service and increase information delivery by acting as a liaison between IT department and the other business units of ICB on technology-related issues.
• Provide support on hardware, software & network infrastructure related problems
• Ensuring the smooth running of all IT systems
• Ensuring the security of data from internal and external attack & systems security.
• Providing users with appropriate support and advice and where necessary conduct user trainings.
• Assist in business continuity planning & disaster recovering planning.
• To perform backups of various systems and to perform restoration of data periodically
to ensure that backups taken are in good order.
• To ensure that all problems reported by the ICB business units on all hardware, software and network queries/problems are documented and approved using standard IT reporting forms for future reference.
• To ensure that antivirus client and server are up to date with latest updates and patterns.
• To ensure that the branch communication link and Internet and network is working full time.
• To liaise with various application vendors on support related issues.
• Provide support on ATM infrastructure.
• Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls/routers, applying appropriate security to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
• Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
• Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions and document.
• Establish and ensure periodic maintenance of hardware, software and network infrastructure is performed and ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
• Maintain network documentation and inventory of all IT infrastructures.
• Monitor and review network and applications security logs.
• Ensure all workstations, servers, firewall, routers and other appliances are updated with the latest update patches released by the vendors.
• Perform any other duties assigned on a time to time basis.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Information Technology or Software Development/Engineering or other related degree or its equivalent in education and work experience.
• 2 years of work experience in a similar position supporting various business critical applications.
• Knowledge or certifications on Oracle10g, SQL2012 Database will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and experience in applications related to financial industry will be an added advantage on core banking application, cheque truncation system, SWIFT, Reuters, credit reference databank.
• General banking knowledge, problem-solving, analytical skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English & Swahili
