Position: Sustainable Agriculture Intern – Soil Health & Organic Waste Management
Location: Mkuranga, Tanzania
This role involves hands-on support for sustainable agriculture practices with a focus on organic waste management and composting. The intern will assist in the processing, management, and quality analysis of compost products to help enhance soil health for agricultural applications. Key responsibilities include monitoring compost production, assisting in data collection, testing soil amendments, and supporting educational initiatives for farmers on the benefits and use of organic compost.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with daily intake, sorting, and preparation of organic waste.
• Help manage the composting process to produce high-quality compost.
• Maintain site cleanliness and safety, ensuring all protocols are followed.
• Conduct quality checks and assist with data recording for daily operations.
• Manage and monitor composting processes, including temperature, moisture levels, and aeration schedules.
• Assist in soil testing and quality assessment of compost products.
• Work directly with the agricultural team to promote soil health strategies.
• Provide educational support for farmers and other stakeholders on the benefits of using organic compost.
• Document and analyze compost production data to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
• Has Completed a Bachelors degree in any field. Preferably environmentally related
• Interest in waste management, composting, agriculture, or related fields.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer skills.
• Physically capable of performing hands-on tasks.
• Willing and able to relocate to Mkuranga or nearby areas.
