PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 
The Supervisor – Lubrication is responsible for overseeing all lubrication activities within the process plant, ensuring equipment reliability through effective preventive and corrective maintenance. This role provides leadership to the lubrication crew, ensuring safe work execution, compliance with company policies and international standards, and continuous improvement in maintenance practices. By driving safety culture, cost efficiency, and workforce productivity, the Supervisor ensures minimal equipment downtime and contributes to the plant’s operational excellence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
•    Trade Test Certificate or equivalent in Maintenance/Lubrication will be an added advantage.

 

EXPERIENCE:
•    A minimum of 4 years’ experience in plant lubrication and maintenance within mining or heavy industrial operations.
•    At least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
•    Strong knowledge of lubrication systems, equipment reliability, and predictive maintenance techniques.
•    Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as SAP/ Pronto/Infor or equivalent.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Preventive and corrective maintenance planning.
•    Equipment reliability and failure analysis.
•    Strong understanding of plant process equipment (mills, crushers, pumps, conveyors, etc.).
•    Computer literacy (MS Office, maintenance software).
•    Strong analytical and reporting skills.
•    Familiarity with HSE regulations and risk.

 

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•    Lead and supervise the lubrication crew to deliver preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across all plant sections.
•    Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and standards, fostering a proactive safety culture.
•    Plan, allocate, and monitor daily tasks, ensuring full utilization of workforce and timely completion of jobs to the highest standards.
•    Oversee the use of permits-to-work (PTW) and ensure compliance with authorization requirements before job execution.
•    Drive operational discipline by ensuring timekeeping, conduct, and behavior are aligned with company policies and values.
•    Monitor and ensure that no equipment stoppages or failures occur due to poor lubrication practices or workmanship.
•    Conduct routine inspections, PTOs, Take 5 risk assessments, and hazard identifications, escalating findings and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
•    Ensure accurate and timely recording, reporting, and follow-up of maintenance notifications arising from inspections or task execution.
•    Coordinate with the Senior Supervisor – TQM and other departments to ensure alignment of lubrication practices with plant reliability strategies.
•    Promote cost control and efficiency by seeking opportunities to reduce waste, optimize use of resources, and extend equipment life.
•    Ensure compliance with national and international lubrication and maintenance standards as well as internal company guidelines.
•    Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to lubrication team members to build technical competence and continuous improvement.
