JOB OVERVIEW
IBO Italia is looking for 3 Special Needs Field Officers. Under the supervision of the Project Manager and with the support of an Educational Expert, they will facilitate the implementation of inclusive education activities at target primary schools level, including teachers’ training and coaching, setup of educational sessions with pupils, assessment and fostering of inclusive educational practices.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main tasks of this position, under the supervision of the Project Manager are:
Project Planning:
Develop regular project activity plans.
Attend monthly IBO coordination meetings.
Ensure regular coordination meeting with school community stakeholders.
Project Implementation
Provide technical support for the development and implementation of the inclusive educational activities in each target school.
Facilitate inclusive education barriers and facilitators assessments.
Facilitate disability assessments of pupils with disabilities.
Participate in the identification, provision and utilization of inclusive learning materials to be provided to each school.
Facilitate capacity strengthening activities through provision of training for education staff and mentoring of teachers.
Facilitate inclusive education awareness raising sessions for stakeholders, Parents and Teachers Associations and school communities when needed.
Assist in the setting up of resource centers about inclusive education at selected schools.
Project Monitoring and Reporting
Participate in the development of project quality and monitoring quality indicators of the project.
Ensure timely narrative and financial reporting as per Organization procedures.
Monitor whether schools, teachers and stakeholders are implementing the agreed project activities.
Documentation and capitalization
Collection of useful documentations and information concerning the area of intervention (reports, pictures, learning materials etc.).
Participate in compiling lessons learned, designing and implementing events for exchange of project experience.
Contribute to designing a system to compile and disseminate best practices.
Field Relations and Representation
Build and maintain positive and productive working relations with schools, government authorities, international agencies and partners in the field.
Perform other related duties and/or tasks as may become necessary or requested by immediate supervisor.
REQUIRED PROFILE
Education
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Inclusive Education, Special Needs Education, Education, Social Work.
Experience
Sound experience on disability issues/inclusive education sector.
At least 1 year work experience in Inclusive education, Special Needs Education.
Knowledge about developing resources and training materials for teachers.
Experience working with school community.
Working experience in the project area is an added value.
Competencies
Computer literate.
Fluency in written and oral English and Swahili.
Planning and time management.
Facilitation of groups through participatory approach.
Capacity building, training and coaching skills.
Knowledge of the Education and Disability Sectors in Tanzania is an added value.
Adapting of curriculum, learning materials for children with special needs, developing individual education plan in an added value.
Technical expertise on specific disabilities is an added value.
