A qualified and experienced social worker with a Diploma in Social Work
A person experienced at relating to and dealing with young people, especially boys
Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in English
Ability to work constructively in a team to further the well-being of Malaika young people

Job description

1. To ensure the well-being, socialization and development of the children and young people in the care of Malaika Kids.
   This will include:
   Assessing and monitoring each child (over the age of 12 years)
   Identifying the specific needs of individual children. This will be through interview, and discussion with the relevant mother
   It may also involve contact with schools or course leaders.
   Drawing up, communicating and monitoring plans to support individual
   children.
   Providing counselling where appropriate
   Keeping accurate records and preparing reports as required
2. To support our young people to become economically independent and responsible members of their community
   This will include:
   Researching relevant courses and career opportunities appropriate to the ability of each young person leaving school
   Developing a knowledge of the local context and employment opportunities
   In discussion with the team and the young person, making decisions about the young person’s future
3. Organising activities for the children to help relieve stress and tension
