Paveway Africa Limited on behalf of a client is looking for the Shipping Line Officer who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the shipping line, ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods. This role involves coordination with various stakeholders, including shipping agents, port authorities, and logistics providers, to ensure compliance with regulations and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

 

    • To coordinate and monitor the arrival and departure of vessels.
    • To oversee the scheduling and routing of shipments to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
    • Ensure all shipping operations comply with international maritime regulations and company policies.
    • To prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and any issues that arise.
    • To develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
    • Liaise with port authorities, customs officials, and shipping agents to ensure smooth operations.
    • To work closely with the finance department to ensure timely billing and payment processes.
    • To monitor the performance of shipping operations and identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensure all safety protocols are followed during shipping operations.
    • To identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • To conduct regular safety audits and inspections.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in shipping operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international shipping regulations and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in shipping software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
