POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Shaft Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and to ensure activities in the Shaft are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: Shaft Superintendent

Work Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Night / 7 Days Off

Duration: Permanent

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines
  • To ensure that work is done according to mining regulations and established SOP
  • To monitor the progress of daily activates and production target achieved
  •  To deal with any identified obstacles that limit productivity
  • Lead and direct shaft operation to adhere to shaft strategies, budget, plans and safety standards
  • Provide leadership and support to ensure that employees comply with safety standards
  • Create suitable working environment, which ensures that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective mentoring programs.
  • Work directly with the crew and ensure that Barrick business objectives and safety, health & environmental policies are met.
  • Report daily progress to the shaft engineer to superintendent shaft
  • Participation in all applicable safety toolbox and prestart meetings
  • To ensure shaft procedures and maintenance schedules are followed

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:                                                              

  • Ordinary secondary Certificate
  • Shaft certificate (cage, banks man, load out trucks, conveyor belt, rock breaker, shaft examination, forklift)
  • Blasting certificate
  • Valid driving license

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar industry (Mining Underground)
  • Experience in shaft operations

 

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mine health &Safety  awareness
  • Excellent communication in English ,both writing  and verbal
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment
