Description

About The UX Research Team

Research at Grafana Labs supports and enables teams through different levels of engagement. Our approach to research begins with a practitioner-led, researcher-supported model. Building on this model, our team drives strategic research efforts such as problem space exploration, helping to build understanding and activate shared learnings across teams and product offerings. Our aim is to elevate and accelerate the research our teams are already doing or want to be doing by offering tools, training, and resources through self-serve and advisory support.

What You’ll Do

As the Senior UX Researcher, you will:

  • Empower cross-functional partners in UX, Product, and Engineering with insights, learning resources, and support to deliver the best user experience possible
  • Conceptualize, design, and coordinate qualitative and quantitative research projects that inform long-term product vision
  • Leverage your deep understanding of how discovery fits into the product development life cycle across multiple stages and at different levels of product maturity
  • Coach and collaborate with designers on tactical research efforts (e.g., moderated/unmoderated usability studies, interviews) that gather evidence to ensure product decisions are made with sufficient insights from users and mitigate risk
  • Create, maintain, and improve research processes and documentation to help operationalize Grafana’s research practice
  • Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in your work and create an environment of respect and belonging with colleagues and research participants

What You’ll Bring

  • Practical experience with a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, techniques for synthesis, and testing tools.
  • You should be comfortable with survey design and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to make smart decisions about how and when to apply research methods based on solid understanding of their benefits and tradeoffs.
  • Ability to embrace and thrive in a high-paced, changing, potentially ambiguous but highly dynamic culture.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Eagerness to continually learn, grow, and improve the craft of research.
  • Comfort working in a remote-first company; communication is key. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful. We operate by consensus —you can contribute to a discussion but then commit to the team decision.
  • Ability to easily and clearly communicate in English (both written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of Research Operations best practices and processes, and experience implementing these concepts is nice to have but not required
