The Role: The EMEA Sales Engineer is a critical technical resource supporting our rapidly growing EMEA sales organization. As the technical expert bridging the gap between our world-class TrueNAS solutions and customer requirements, you'll work directly with Account Executives, channel partners, and enterprise customers across Europe, Middle East, and Africa to architect, design, and demonstrate storage solutions that solve real business challenges.
Our Mission: Help enterprises across EMEA achieve "Storage Freedom" through Open Source economics, delivering enterprise-grade data storage solutions that are more reliable, scalable, and cost-effective than traditional proprietary alternatives.
This is a fully remote position in Europe.
Base Pay Range
The on target earnings for this position are up to $120,000 USD annually.
Please note that the provided range reflects the pay spectrum for positions within the same job category as the one to which this position belongs. The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment.

The Day-to-Day
The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Customer-Facing Technical Leadership
- Conduct technical discovery sessions with prospects and customers to assess current infrastructure, pain points, and strategic requirements
- Design and present TrueNAS solutions that address specific customer use cases including virtualization, backup, media workflows, cloud integration, and high-availability scenarios
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations both remotely and on-site, showcasing TrueNAS capabilities tailored to customer environments
- Lead technical aspects of the sales cycle including RFP responses, proof-of-concept deployments, and technical presentations to C-level executives and IT teams
- Provide technical competitive differentiation by articulating TrueNAS advantages over Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, and other enterprise storage vendors
Sales Team Enablement & Support
- Partner closely with Account Executives across EMEA to qualify opportunities, develop technical strategies, and accelerate deal closure
- Provide technical expertise throughout the sales process from initial discovery through contract negotiation and implementation planning
- Support complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles common in European enterprise and government procurement processes
- Mentor and train Account Executives on technical positioning, competitive differentiation, and solution architecture basics
- Collaborate with Sales Management to develop territory-specific technical strategies and competitive battle cards
Channel Partner Development
- Enable channel partners with technical training, solution architectures, and sales engineering support
- Conduct partner technical certification programs to build competency in TrueNAS solutions across the EMEA partner ecosystem
- Support joint customer engagements with channel partners, providing technical leadership and expertise
- Develop technical collateral and documentation specific to regional partner needs and go-to-market strategies
- Participate in partner events, trade shows, and technical workshops across the EMEA region
Solution Architecture & Design
- Create detailed technical proposals including solution architectures, sizing recommendations, and implementation roadmaps
- Develop custom configurations that meet specific customer performance, capacity, and budget requirements
- Ensure solution designs comply with regional regulations, data sovereignty requirements, and industry standards
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to communicate customer requirements and market feedback
- Maintain deep expertise in TrueNAS CORE, SCALE, and Enterprise editions, as well as complementary technologies
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
- Monitor competitive landscape and provide intelligence on regional market dynamics, competitive positioning, and win/loss analysis
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and user groups to maintain market awareness and thought leadership
- Contribute to regional marketing initiatives including webinars, case studies, and technical content creation
- Provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams on regional feature requirements and market demands

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or field related to products and services being sold is preferred
- Two to four years of related product or sales experience is required
Required Experience
- 5+ years of technical sales engineering experience in enterprise storage, virtualization, or related infrastructure technologies
- Proven track record supporting enterprise B2B sales teams with consistent achievement of technical sales objectives
- Experience working with channel partners and supporting indirect sales models
- Background supporting EMEA or similar international markets with understanding of regional business practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- Storage industry certifications (NetApp, EMC, VMware, etc.) demonstrating technical depth
- Open Source technology experience with understanding of open source business models and community dynamics
- Experience with TrueNAS, FreeNAS, or other OpenZFS-based storage platforms
- Cloud storage and hybrid infrastructure experience with major cloud providers
- Technical consulting or professional services background
- Multiple language capabilities for enhanced regional effectiveness
Technical Competencies
- Storage Architecture & Design: Expert-level understanding of enterprise storage architectures, performance optimization, and scalability planning
- Virtualization Integration: Deep knowledge of storage requirements for virtualized environments and hyperconverged infrastructure
- Backup & Recovery: Comprehensive understanding of enterprise backup architectures and disaster recovery planning
- Network & Security: Knowledge of storage networking, security protocols, and compliance requirements
- Cloud Integration: Experience with hybrid cloud storage strategies and cloud migration planning
