Position Summary:
Our client is a growing firm operating within the insurance, risk management, and loss adjusting industry in Tanzania. As part of its strategic expansion, the company is establishing a dedicated property valuation division to provide professional, compliant, and high-quality valuation services to a diverse clientele including insurers, banks, legal firms, property developers, and private clients.
To support this growth, the firm is seeking a qualified and VRB-registered Property Valuer to lead and execute property valuation assignments across Tanzania. The role will involve valuations for commercial, residential, industrial, and insurance-related purposes, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, client service excellence, and market insight. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a keen understanding of valuation standards, and a commitment to professional ethics.
Key Responsibilities
Valuation Execution
- Conduct site inspections and perform valuations for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use properties.
- Apply appropriate valuation methods (comparative, income, and cost approaches) depending on the assignment type.
Report Preparation and Compliance
- Prepare accurate, clear, and compliant valuation reports in line with VRB regulations and BoT standards.
- Ensure documentation reflects physical attributes, market data, legal tenure, and valuation rationale.
Market Research and Analysis
- Collect and analyze property market data including recent sales, rental values, and infrastructure developments.
- Stay updated on local and national market trends that influence property values.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with clients such as banks, insurers, legal entities, and private individuals.
- Provide professional advice, address inquiries, and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
Internal Collaboration and Business Support
- Work closely with internal teams including insurance assessors and risk surveyors to deliver integrated service solutions.
- Contribute to business development initiatives by identifying opportunities and supporting proposal preparation.
Professional Ethics and Continuous Development
- Maintain strict professional integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Participate in relevant trainings, workshops, and professional development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Management & Valuation, Real Estate, or a related field from a recognized institution
- Fully registered with the Valuers Registration Board (VRB)
- 2–5 years of practical valuation experience, preferably with exposure to commercial properties
- Proficient in valuation methodologies and report writing
- Strong knowledge of land tenure systems and property laws in Tanzania
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- High ethical standards and attention to regulatory compliance
Desirable Skills
- Experience engaging with banks, insurers, or investment firms
- Familiarity with international valuation standards such as IVS or RICS
- Exposure to digital tools for valuation or mapping (e.g., GIS, valuation software)
- Willingness to travel across regions for site assessments

- This role is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
- The position is subject to a 3-month probation period, with the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion.
