Working with a team of highly competent staff including over sixty Expert Technicians employed full-time, a team of Electrical/Mechanical Engineers, and Quantity Surveyors, has enabled GadgetroniX to specialize in an array of areas including Communication, Energy Systems, Electric Vehicles, Mobile Signal Boosters, Networking, Security & Surveillance Systems.

GadgetroniX represents several well-recognized international companies in the pursuit of developing, testing and promoting clean energy technologies and its other services in order to empower individuals as well as businesses.

The Company is currently looking for an experienced Project Manager with the below credentials.

General Description

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager for Energy & Security (E&S) Division (Operations Manager from hereon), the Project Manager is tasked with the job of helping the E&S Division of Gadgetonix.net and will be the main person in upcoming turnkey projects and contracts. These turnkey projects cover installation of solar Powered systems under the E&S Division.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Oversee upcoming turnkey project(s) from the start through completion, ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
  2. Coordinates with the Sales Team in conducting site surveys of prospective projects and drafts site survey reports for review of Operations Manager and E&S Director and final approval of the Chief Executive Officer.
  3. In coordination with the Site Manager, leads a project team of engineers and technicians.
  4. Works closely with Project Design Engineer to ensure that project design is accurately followed and project scope is clearly defined and understood to avoid scope creep and minimize changes.
  5. Promptly communicates and consults with Operations Manager and E&S Director in cases when it’s necessary to divert from the plan (e.g. changes in BOQ, number of crew, timeline) in order to bring the project to completion.
  6. Works closely with the Engineering Department (engineers, architect, and structural team) to ensure projects are brought to completion within the set timeline.
  7. Works closely with the Operations Manager and Legal Team in ensuring that all necessary permits (e.g. building permits, environmental permits) are in place before commencing work in every project.
  8. Works closely with HR & Logistics Manager in reviewing and maintaining an accurate projection of ad hoc crew requirements (e.g. hiring of temporary or wage workers) with approval from Operations Manager.
  9. Works closely with the Store Manager and Logistics Team to ensure timely delivery of supplies and equipment.
  10. Prepares weekly project progress reports for active projects handled. These reports are submitted to the Operations Manager, E&S Director and CEO and should include the following information:

a) percentage of completion;

b) enumerate delays if any and state reasons for setbacks; and

c) describe tasks/targets to accomplish for the next week.

11. Works closely with Project Accountant to ensure that financial records related to

projects are accurate and entered in the accounting system in a timely manner.

12. Coaches, mentors, and evaluates the performance of the project team and make adjustments as needed.

13. Be a subject matter expert on all facets of the project development process.

14. Manages customer expectations and maintains constant contact with the customer at several levels to solicit feedback, resolve issues, and ultimately achieve customer satisfaction through proactive communications.

15. With authorization from Operations Manager, E&S Director and Chief Executive Officer, leads the Senior Engineer and Lead Technician during project close-outs and handing over completed projects to clients.

15. Coordinates with the Project Audit Team during project reviews and post-mortem evaluations.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or project management, or a related field. Holding certificates related to project management, renewable energy systems, or security systems is a plus.
  • At least five (4) years of proven track record of managing teams, projects, or business units.
  • Working knowledge of project budgeting and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of scope development and understanding of contract documents.
  • In-depth knowledge of products and services offered by Gadgetronix.net.
  • In-depth knowledge of current market events and the industry Gadgetronix.net is operating in.

Skills and Abilities

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili, both oral and written.
  • Ability to travel outside of Arusha and stay in project sites throughout the duration of projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • IT fluency and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with experience in creating management reports and presentations.
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to provide quality leadership to a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Creative, resourceful and ability to solve tough problems.
  • Ability to keep the project team motivated to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to wear many hats and have flexibility to take various duties to ensure project’s timely completion.
  • Strong negotiation skills with sub-contractors and customers.
