Institute Overview
Nkinga Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) is owned and run by The Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT). It was established in 1963 by missionaries from Sweden as a small training institution offering a one year course in Village Midwife. Since then, NIHS has undergone a series of metamorphosis in terms of its governance and the courses it offers. Currently, it offers 3 programs in Clinical Medicine, Nursing and Medical Laboratory at certificate and diploma levels. NIHS has a long history of providing quality education to students who meet the standards regardless of confessional affiliation. It is located in Nkinga Village, Igunga District and Tabora Region. It is about 70km and 120km away from Igunga and Tabora towns. Lying adjacent to NIHS is Nkinga Referral Hospital which serves as a teaching hospital for our students. The hospital is also an accredited internship by the Ministry of Health for Medical Doctors.
Position Summary
NIHS is looking for Principal to undertake Leadership and Management roles and coordinate academic affairs. He/she will be answerable to the NIHS Board and The FPCT Director of the Health Department. He/she will be the secretary to the NIHS board, management meetings chairperson and member of the National Health Board of FPCT. He/she will liaise with the Doctor in charge of FPCT Nkinga Referral Hospital, FPCT Health Coordinator and FPCT Director of Education Department
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage day to day activities of the institution
• Ensure staff performance reviews and staff development occurs as required
• Ensure that the financial responsibilities are carried out accordingly
• Manage funds: income and expenditure
• Prepare periodic progress report and submit to the NIHS Board and National Health Board and other stakeholders
• Coordinate the implementation of the strategic plan
• Ensure that academic affairs are carried out as per NACTE and Ministry of Health guidelines
• To initiate, establish, strengthen and oversee inter institutional collaborations and strategic partnerships for realization of the hospitals mandate and strategic objectives
• Ensure that students needs and affairs are met
• Carry out the direction of the NIHS Board and report regularly on progress
• To establish and sustain effective relationship with the board, the government, regulatory bodies, partners, collaborators, funding agencies, other stakeholders, and staff in the interest of NIHS/FPCT
• To ensure the hospital staff remain motivated to discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently and in compliance with the human resource management policies and practices
• To perform any other responsibilities as determined and deemed necessary by the board in line with FPCT mandate

Qualification and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in Management/Nursing/Medicine/other Health Related Field is desirable
• A master’s degree and experience in relevant field is an added advantage
• Membership to relevant professional bodies.
Skills and Competencies
• Excellent communication skills: fluent in spoken and written English a must, fluent in spoken and written Kiswahili is desirable
• Good computer skills including Excel, Word, PPT and other software
• Familiarity of training activities and/or health care systems is an added advantage
