Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) is a K-12 school in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania located in the tropics on the east coast of Africa with a gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean. HOPAC began in 1994 by missionaries and quickly expanded. We now have just over 400 students from 15+ countries. Job Summary:
At HOPAC we seek educators who combine professional expertise with a ministry-minded approach to their work with students. They should demonstrate a growth mindset, an eagerness to embrace a cross-cultural environment, and a commitment to developing their skills in teaching from a Biblical worldview. They should have a desire to serve and guide students in service, stewardship and leadership.
Reports to:
Head of School
General Responsibilities:
-Responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning for Kindergarten through Grade 5.
-Provide Spiritual Leadership to staff and students.
-Provide Instructional Leadership, ensuring academic goals of the school are met.
-Develop and facilitate leadership capacity among staff and students
-Manage school operations and resources in collaboration with the Field Leadership Team
-Work with the Field Leadership Team to develop an inclusive school community with Christ as our center.
-Work with school team for accreditation.
-Foster effective relationships with parents and the HOPAC Community.
Qualifications:
Masters of Education
Minimum of 5 years teaching/admin/business experience
Experience with Cambridge curriculum preferred, but not required
