JOB DETAILS:

Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. The Paediatrician is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent diseases and injuries in young patients, ensuring their healthy development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Patient Care: Examine young patients to assess their growth and development, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and conditions.
    • Treatment Plans: Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including prescribing medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care.
    • Preventative Health: Administer vaccinations and provide guidance to parents and guardians on topics such as nutrition, fitness, and hygiene to promote preventative healthcare.
    • Management of Chronic Conditions: Manage the long-term care of children with chronic illnesses and complex health conditions.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and therapists, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
    • Emergency Response: Provide urgent and emergency care as needed.
    • Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies, medical ethics, and national healthcare regulations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master of Medicine (MMed) in Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
  • Valid and active medical practicing license.
  • Registration with the relevant national medical and dental practitioners council.
  • Proven experience working as a Paediatrician.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain medical terms to children and their parents.
  • Compassion, patience, and a deep commitment to the health of children.
