Description

KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Support General Manager in overall responsibility for the effect management and running of lodge
  • To ensure the lodge and brand are taken to the next level of service standards
  • Assist General Manager in creating an environment where the standard is continuously met and visible throughout the daily functioning of the lodge
  • Ensure implementation and project management of lodge annual strategy
  • Work with General Manager in driving community development projects in conjunction with the Africa Foundation
  • Assist in working with Regional Fleet & R&M Managers on developing and implementing projects in conjunction with the company’s Health & Safety standards
  • Work with Sustainability Manager on developing and implementing projects in conjunction with the company’s sustainability & Conservation strategy
  • Assisting in the Overall Day to Day Management of the Lodge, including hosting and overseeing the back of house & Security
  • Specific attention to assisting with Repairs and Maintenance in the lodge
  • Oversee that fleet is properly maintained and always spotless
  • Assist General Manager in overseeing security at the lodge
  • Assist in developing and overseeing the guiding team
  • Assist General Manager in hosting guests, agents, media and groups
  • Constantly evolving the guest experience to ensure we remain cutting edge and meet guests expectations
  • Oversee staff delight activities
  • Manage uniform issues and orders for all general staff. Ensure all staff are wearing correct uniform
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating bush functions/events
  • Assist in bush events equipment’s stock takes

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as an operations manager in a 5 star lodge
  • Valid Class C driving license

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Energetic, proactive person with well-developed concept of the importance of providing a worldclassguest experience and the ability to provide that experience
  • Aware, evolved, energetic, compassionate, respectable and a strong leader
  • Open minded and able to think outside of the box
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
  • Confidence in dealing with guests, agents & staff
  • Attention to detail
  • Diligence and self-motivation to meet deadlines
  • Willingness/ability to share information and teach and inspire others
  • Computer and financial skills
  • Previous guiding experience preferred
  • Good understanding of maintenance & fleet essential
  • Understanding and interest in sustainability

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Experience in the service industry especially dealing with operations and guests
  • Previous experience in a 5 star operation
