VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from qualified, energetic, proactive, and dynamic candidates (internal and external) to fill vacant positions in the Garage and Transport Department as detailed below:

A: POST: WELDER (trailers, wagons and tractor Implements)**

1. Reports to the Trailers and Wagons Supervisors.
2. Core Job Description: performing welding repairs on tractor implements, wagons, trailers and other heavy equipment. Fabricating and welding frame, structure, support & reinforcement plates as per guideline & specifications
3. Key Accountabilities

3.1 Reading & understanding welding procedures & instructions before starting a job.

3.2 Identifying the materials needed for the job.

3.3 Measuring & cutting the material to specification using measuring devices, technical drawing etc.

3.4 Joining & welding the metal parts by using the adequate tools like mig-welding machine, arc welding machine, oxyacetylene torch etc.

3.5 Designing & Fabricating re-enforcement plate to secure the frame.

3.6 Maintaining a record of all the work completed.

3.7 Performing any other related duties as may be assigned.

1. Core Competencies

4.1 Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and welding rods.

4.2 Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.

4.3 Skilled in the use of hand tools safely and various equipment.

4.4 Knowledge of welding symbols and drawing reading skills.

1. Personal Specifications
   Form four or standard seven, holders of the Government trade test certificate level two /grade two or level three /grade one. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and At least 4 years working experience as a welder on implements, trailers, wagons and Heavy Vehicle equipment.
